The big moment is here: the first shipments are going out this week! Soon, you'll have your Sinagot in your hands.
Whether you fell for the recycled oyster shell version or the Signature wood edition, your knife is a road companion designed to last. To ensure it stands the test of time while retaining all its shine and sharpness, here is our essential care advice.
1. Cleaning: gentleness first and foremost
The golden rule for the blade (whether serrated or smooth) is simplicity:
-
The right touch: A little warm water and a quick wipe with a sponge (the soft side!) are more than enough.
-
Drying: This is the most important step. Always wipe your blade with a soft cloth immediately after washing. This prevents limescale marks and preserves the shine of the steel.
-
To avoid: Never scrape the blade with the abrasive side of the sponge and avoid harsh chemicals. Your Sinagot prefers gentleness.
2. Signature Version: nourishing the wood
If you chose the Signature version made from wood salvaged from boats in the Gulf, you have a piece of history in your hands. Wood is a living material that likes to be nourished.
-
Lionel's tip: From time to time, apply a simple drop of food-grade oil (rapeseed, olive, or grapeseed) to the handle with a cloth.
-
The result: This will protect the wood and instantly restore that warm color and depth that we love so much.
3. Oyster Shell Version: resistance
Our oyster shell composite handles are particularly robust.
-
Although they can withstand a trip through the dishwasher, we advise you to do so in moderation. Hand washing remains the best way to respect the precision mechanics of your knife in the long term.
4. Everyday protection
The Sinagot is a traveler, but it appreciates its comfort. To protect the blade from friction (keys, coins) and preserve the handle, we can only advise you to use a protective case. It is the best way to avoid accidental scratches during your outings.
And what about sharpening? Many of you ask us how to give your blade its "bite" back after several months of use. Don't panic, we are preparing a next episode dedicated exclusively to the art of sharpening your Sinagot like a pro!
Until then, enjoy your first cuts and don't hesitate to share photos of your Sinagot in action with us!
